PHOENIX, Arizona- Floating Gardens announced today that the largest aquaponics farm in the country will be entirely crowd funded. With an unreleased location near Phoenix the company boasts that the use of aquaponics will allow up to 200,000 pounds of food production on a one acre plot every year with only 2% of the water consumption when compared to a traditional farm, saving the state and its residents almost 1.8 million gallons of water per year.
“We are beyond excited! It’s not every day you see this kind of response” – said Floating Gardens CEO, Blake Yerian.
The organic farm plans to work with researchers from the University of Arizona to promote the use of aquaponic technology for backyard use for Americans of all ages. The farm plans to grow over a dozen products that have surged in price for Arizona residents in an effort to provide a lower price point than organic farms thousands of miles away.

What the heck is Aquaponics?!
Aquaponics is a food production system that combines conventional aquaculture (raising aquatic animals such as snails, fish, crayfish or prawns in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) in a symbiotic environment. This allows the water that would be wasted, and flushed away, in both systems to be recycled and provide nutrients to plants through fish waste.
Why Floating Gardens
Floating Gardens will build the largest aquaponics farm in the United States, providing full access to its patrons as well as education for the community. Its customers can see exactly where and how their food is grown. With placement directly adjacent to the customer, Floating Gardens will eliminate the need for transportation costs and their impact on the environment.
Where Will It Be?
Floating Gardens is proud to call Arizona its first home and plans on expanding nationwide after its pilot farm, the largest of its kind in the U.S..
