Riot Games and UVS are going absolutely unhinged with their Riftbound TCG art direction — and we love to see it. Super Mega Death Rocket!, Jinx’s Signature Spell in the upcoming Origins set, is a perfect example of how to turn an ability into a statement piece.
There’s no champion portrait here. No action pose. Just a rocket with shark teeth flying at your face — and somehow, that’s more Jinx than any illustration of her could be.
Let’s talk about what makes this thing work — as a card and as a collectible.
Jinx, by Way of Rocket
In League of Legends, Super Mega Death Rocket! is Jinx’s ultimate ability — a global-range finisher that punishes low-health enemies with overkill energy. In lore, it’s a ridiculous weapon built for ridiculous moments. And in Riftbound, that same vibe translates perfectly.
Instead of rehashing her face for the tenth time, the art team made a bold move: just show the rocket. But not just any rocket — this one’s grinning. It’s got a shark mouth, a red paint job, and eyes that are somehow more expressive than most NPCs in video games. You can hear it laughing mid-flight.
No Jinx in sight. Doesn’t matter. She’s all over this thing.
Composition & Color
The framing is tight. The rocket fills most of the card, angled slightly off-center to make it feel like it’s about to fly straight out of the border. There’s electric blue lightning wrapped around it, slicing through the deep purple background in thick arcs. The whole image feels charged — like the moment before impact.
The motion lines and visual noise are intentionally messy. That’s the point. It’s chaos in motion. The type of chaos that doesn’t apologize.
And the colors? They’re pure Jinx. Saturated red and violet. Neon streaks. Black outlines. It’s comic book energy layered on top of punk grit. If you’ve ever seen Arcane, you can feel the overlap — this could’ve been pulled from one of her blueprint pages.
In-Game Identity
This is a Signature Spell — a card type that’s tied directly to a specific champion. You don’t just run this in any deck. It’s Jinx-only. And it acts like it:
Deal 5 to a unit.
When you conquer, you may discard 1 to return this from your trash to your hand.
Translation: Blow something up. If you’re already winning, do it again. It’s a loopable burn spell. Aggro decks are going to love this. Midrange decks are going to tech it. Control decks are going to be scared of it.
It’s not flashy — it’s efficient. Just like a good explosion should be.
Pull Rarity & Collector Angle
Let’s zoom out for a second. This isn’t a starter deck card. It’s booster-only, which makes it significantly harder to get. Here’s what we know from Riftbound’s box setup:
-
3 foils per booster
-
6 Epic cards per 24-pack box
-
Alt-art cards are seeded 1 per 6 boxes
We don’t have exact confirmation, but given its number (#252/298) and power level, Super Mega Death Rocket! is probably Rare or Epic — and with Jinx being who she is, the foil version is going to be a must-have for collectors.
If there’s an alt-art version (which Riot has done for other cards), expect full chaos: explosions, graffiti, maybe even chibi shark-face energy. The hype alone will spike value fast.
Value Spec (Yeah, Let’s Do It)
Early predictions based on UVS Games’ previous sets and the demand around Jinx:
-
Standard version: $10–15
-
Foil: $25–35
-
Alt-art (if revealed): $50+ depending on art and scarcity
That’s not even factoring in playability. If this becomes a staple in competitive Jinx builds, the price could climb fast — especially during launch month.
