Art Of...My Hero Academia

The Art Of Lightning Rod Alt Art From My Hero Academia: Girl Power

The Lightning Rod Alt Art is part of the My Hero Academia Girl Power expansion pack, which was just released to the public a few days ago.

Since then, it has become the talk of the town in the My Hero Academia community.

Rightfully so, the set boasts a ton of great chase cards. As the name suggests, the expansion focuses heavily on the female characters of the anime, but the Lightning Rod Alt Art features Denki Kaminari busting a move.

This card has been one of the most popular cards on the reseller market, and we’re here to decipher why. So if that interests you, stick around!

Origins

Denki Kaminari, also known as Chargebolt, is a student at U.A. High School aiming to become a Pro Hero.

His quirk, Electrification, lets him generate and discharge electricity, making him a zappy force in battle. Despite his goofy nature, Denki is dedicated to honing his abilities and helping his friends.

Trivia

Despite his cool quirk, Denki Kaminari has a hilarious side effect. When he uses too much electricity, he short-circuits his brain and becomes temporarily dumb.

His friends often find him in this state, making him a source of comic relief despite his powerful abilities.

Lightning Rod Alt Art

The Lightning Rod Alt Art shows off Denki in a super cool pose, which doesn’t happen very often for him. Most of the time, we see him goofing around, but not here.

The card’s illustration is taken straight from the 6th season of the My Hero Academia anime, where Denki does a great service to the heroes by absorbing a lot of electricity, hence the card’s name, Lightning Rod!

The card tells a great story and boasts a fantastic illustration. No wonder it’s so popular.

Value

As of writing this article, the Lightning Rod Alt Art is going for around $25 on the reseller markets, which is very unusual for a Denki Kaminari card. Even though he’s lovable, he’s not one of the most popular characters in the anime, especially when compared to his other classmates.

So the long-term value of the card becomes a little uncertain, especially since the illustration is not original. Original illustrations tend to do more numbers and stay on top for longer. But hey, who knows, this might be the exception and climb up in value in the next few weeks. You can never tell!
