The Lost Origin Expansion Pack is one of the last ones we will be getting for the Sword and Shield Era of Pokemon games, so it is no surprise to see the TCG making it a big deal by releasing some of the best cards we’ve seen this year! The expansion puts a lot of emphasis on the lord of the distortion realm, Giratina; this is visible in the expansion’s promotional material.

We’ve been getting expansions related to the Sinnoh region this year because of the release of two Pokemon games in the Sinnoh region in the form of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and Pokemon Legends: Arceus, hence the inclusion of Giratina in this expansion pack.

Lost Origin features some fabulous cards, and one such card is the Pikachu V Max, which might look very familiar to many as it was already released in Japan as a part of the V Max Climax expansion. It was probably the most popular card from the development. In today’s blog post, we will shed some light on the features of this card that make it such a valuable asset.

Origins

Pikachu is the face of Pokemon; almost everyone and their grandma knows what a Pikachu is, they might not know what Pokemon means, but they’ll know who Pikachu is, such is the stature of this tiny yellow mouse.

As for the illustration, it was done by the super-talented Souichirou Gunjima, who deserves all the praise for the fantastic illustration. The artist handled the involvement of Red on the card very elegantly, it doesn’t seem forced, and the cards look just terrific.

Adding Red to the card has made it one of a kind, as we don’t see illustrations like these far often. But whenever we do, they manage to garner the entire community’s attention.

The Sylveon Vmax is a card that comes to mind that handled the Trainer Pokemon Duo on a  card subtly.

Value

As of writing this blog post, the Pikachu V Max is sold for around $60 across multiple reseller sites. This goes without saying, but remember that the price might fluctuate depending on the card’s condition and the time you plan to acquire it.

The future of this card seems to be safe at the moment as it is one of the, if not the best, Pikachu card in the Sword and Shield Era. But this doesn’t guarantee its price will increase because the nature of the modern TCG is such that there will always be a good supply of the card.

Pokemon has had a great year so far; with the release of Legends: Arceus, the company was flying high. As soon after it, Pokemon announce the release of the 9th generation Poklemon games!

Now that the Sword and Shield Era is about to rest, the Pokemon TCG is trying to bid the era a good farewell by releasing some of the best cards we’ve seen all year. The Lost Origin expansion features Giratina prominently, and rightfully so; we’ve seen Dialga, Palkia, and Arceus getting their fair share of exposure this year, and it was about time Gireatina came to the limelight.

The expansion features a beautiful card, the Hisuian Goodra V Star, which has been consistently sold for high prices in the resellers market. So we decided to do a small blog post shedding some light on why the card is doing such big numbers!

Origins

The Hisuian Goodra looks similar to its Kalosian counterpart; there are subtle differences, but if a new player sees them, they won’t be able to differentiate it, as the only distinguishing feature is their tails. The Hisuian has a giant shell on its back which is a nod to its snail-like qualities.

The Kalosian Goodra was also inspired by a snail but didn’t have a shell.

Trivia

The Hisuian Goodra V Star isn’t the only Goodra card in the expansion; we also have the two different V cards, which look just as good as the V Star cards.

Illustration

The Hisuian Goodra V Star shows off what the Hisuian Goodra always looks like, and if you think it’s sad, then you’re right; the Pokemon is sad. The Hisuian Goodra are very social, and if they’re left alone, they get low, and that’s what the illustrator of this card, 5ban graphics, is trying to depict.

These might be small details, but they set the card apart in the vast array of cards we get every few months!

Value

As of writing this blog post, the Hisuian Goodra V Star is sold for anywhere between $15-20, but the price might fluctuate depending on the site you’re checking it on and the condition of the card. For a perfect mint condition card, you can easily fetch $20.

As the Hisuian Goodra isn’t very different from the Goodra we already have, it is not the most popular Pokemon currently and has a low price. You can also expect this price to stay around the same amount in the future.

The Hisuian Zoroark is a Pokemon revealed just this year in the brand-new Legends: Arceus. It was one of the first Pokemon to be revealed, and it certainly excited the community, as Zoroark was popular. But unlike the Unnovan counterpart, which is sneaky and a menace to society, the Hisuian Zoroark is just sad!

Yes, the Hisuian Zoroark was killed by humans living in the area, so the Hisuain Zoroark ate ghosts of all the Zoroarks killed. They were reborn out of spite and hate for Humans.

Being the star of Hisuian Zoroark, it was no surprise to see more than one Hisuian Zoroark card in this new expansion. We got three variants of the V Star cards and one V card.

The Hisuian Zoroark V Star Gold Variant is by far the most popular one and was illustrated by the super aky CG works, which have also shown the most popular card from this era of cards, the Charizard VMAX!

The artist’s style is very reminiscent of the Pokemon games as they take a 3d approach when drawing these cards, and we’re not complaining at all; every illustration they make turns out to be a masterpiece!

As of writing this article, the price of the Hisuian Zoroark V Star is $20; now, this price might fluctuate depending on the delivery charges, the condition of the card, and the time at which you buy the card.

As the Hisuian Zoroark V Star is a V Star card, a new mechanic, and not many Pokemon got the privilege of getting a V Star; this Hisuian Zoroark V Star is unique as the era of V Stars is coming to an end late this year!

Perrserker evolves from Galarian Meowth and is the complete opposite of Persian, the normal evolution of a Meowth. As you can see, the evolved Meowth remains bipedal and has fur all over its body, giving it a Viking-like look.

And so far, they have been successful in doing so as they have released some awesome cards; one such card is the Giratina V Star! The card has been doing rounds on the reseller markets, so let’s shed some light on its features and decipher the high value it commands!

Origins

Giratina, as you know, I, the lord of the Distortion realm, was banished to this hellscape because of his evil ways in the overworld! The gods in Pokemon are not very fond of Girtina as it has on multiple occasions tried to cause havoc on the world of humans and Pokemon!

It is mighty, and since its introduction in the 4th gen, it has been a favorite fan legendary. With the release of the remakes in the form of BDSP, this popularity only increased!

Trivia

The Lost Origin expansion pack is one Giratina-centric expansion, it features a lot of cards featuring the dark lord, and we’re not complaining at all. Every card that Giratina is on is incredible!

Illustration

Any card illustration is a lifeline; if the picture manages to entice the fans, then the card will do big numbers; the same can be said of the Giratina V Star. It might not be the best V-Star card released, but it is a perfect Giratina card!

And there are three different versions of the Giratina V Stars in the Lost Origin expansion! The Golden version is by far the most popular one and is the most expensive one as well!

As of writing this blog post, the Giratina V Star is sold for anywhere between $10-$40. The number varies depending on your version of the Giratina V Star. The Golden Rare is by far the most valuable, with a price point of $40.

The Rainbow Rare and regular versions of the cards are not doing so well regarding the value, but who knows, this might change in the future!

As we all know, Giratina is the ruler of the Distortion realm, or the Dark Realm, as many call it. In short, it is the Hell of the Pokemon world, where no mortal being would ever want to go; even Giratina didn’t want to go there. But was forced to do so.

Arceus, the Pokemon God, banished him to the distortion realm for his malice and evil activities. Since then, Giratina has become the big bad of the Pokemon universe, and the popularity of this Pokemon saw a resurgence with the release of Pokemon Legends: Arceus, which takes place in the Hisui region, which is the old name for Sinnoh.

The Lost Origin expansion is heavily focused on the ruler of the distortion realm, and this shows in the number of cards with a Giratina on them. Apart from the Giratina V Full Art, there also are two other Giratuna cards with considerable hype.

Illustration

The Illustration is one of the most important apsects of a card, and in this Illustration, the artist, who goes by the name N-DESIGN Inc, has nailed the Giratina Design.

The Pokemon is in its origin form, which looks like a worm. The artists also decided to show off the tentacles Giratina has. The art style of the illustrator is very similar to that of the games but just more detailed.

Some notable cards from this illustrator are the Zeraora V and Zeraora VMAX.

Value

The value of the Giratina V Full Art is around $20. That is a lot for a modern TCG card.

Even though $20 is a bit amount for a single card, it still doesn’t match up to the best-selling cards from the expansion. As for the future of the card, the price might plummet even more as there is no unique redeeming quality to the Giratina V Full Art, which can be found in cards like Giratina V Alt Full Art. But

2022 has been an excellent year for the Pokemon TCG; we got two awesome expansion packs in the form of Pokemon Brilliant Stars and Pokemon Astral Radiance. These two expansions featured some great cards, some of which are selling for hundreds of dollars on the reseller’s markets!

Similar to these expansions, Pokemon has come out with the Pokemon GO expansion pack as the name suggests. The expansion revolves around Pokemon GO. It features Pokemon mostly in the 3d model form we’re used to seeing on the Pokemon GO mobile game.

The expansion has been getting a lot of traction recently as some of the cards from the expansion are blowing up. One such card is the  Mewtwo V Alternate Art, probably the best card from the expansion. So we decided to a blog post highlighting its origins, value, illustration, and much more!

Origins

The card features the beast legendary and probably the strongest Pokemon from Pokemon GO. Whether the main series games, the mobile games, or even the TCG, Mewtwo is a force to be reckoned with; its pure psychic strength makes it a great Pokemon on any team.

Mewtwo has been a part of the Pokemon universe since the arrival of the first Red and Blue games. Pokemon fans have loved it since it was first revealed, and it will probably stay this way until the franchise survives!

Mewtwo has such star power that every set it turns into; it manages to become the most popular card!

Mewtwo V Alternate Art isn’t the only Mewtwo card in the Pokemon GO expansion; it also features the much-coveted Mewtwo V Star and its Gold and Rainbow rare versions!

Mewtwo V Alternate Art shows Mewtwo in a very menacing way; it can be seen floating up in the sky in a densely populated area. This pose is very reminiscent of the scene in the Pokemon Detective Pikachu Movie, where Mewtwo is seen similarly hovering in the sky in a similar location.

Not only that, the Mewtwo is in the 3-d form we see in Pokemon GO. The card’s perspective is such that Mewtwo looks down upon us with a menacing glare!

Value

Mewtwo V Alternate Art, as of now, is selling for around $70 on multiple different reseller sites. This price is subject to change depending upon the condition of the cards, but you’ll most probably see the card being sold at $70.

As for the future value of the card, it looks bleak at best. The card’s illustration isn’t that jaw-dropping; we have gotten used to awesome Mewtwo cards in the past, the cards that are a hundred times better than the Mewtwo V Alternate Art.

The card might hold its value, but in the long run, the Mewtwo V Alternate Art doesn’t stand a chance against some of the best Mewtwo cards from the Sword and Shield Era!

Pokemon Brilliant Stars kicked off the year 2022 in style for the Pokemon community. The expansion celebrated the Pokemon Brilliant diamond and Shining Pearl Games. The Astral Radiance expansion followed Brilliant Stars and featured some truly fabulous cards; some of these cards are iconic and will be remembered for a long time!

Following these two behemoths’ footsteps, the TCG came out with another expansion a few weeks ago, called Pokemon GO. As the name suggests, the expansion is kind of a promotion for the mobile game. Pokemon Brilliant stars is setting the stage for all the fantastic Pokemon events that will happen this year. Being the first expansion for the year 2022, it had to go big, and it went big! It introduced a whole new card type, Pokemon V Star!

The expansion is also home to many full art trainer cards from the much anticipated V Max climax expansion released in Japan. Because of this, the expansion comes with a ton of great chase cards, one of which is Marnie’s Pride Full Art.

Marnie is a beloved character from Pokemon Sword and Shield and plays a rival role. She eventually replaces her brother Piers as the gym leader of her hometown gym, Spikemuth.

This theme is followed throughout the set, and one such card is the Umbreon V Max. The card is an attention-grabber, thanks to the artists who illustrated it. So today, we will be discussing this card, its origins, some trivia, who illustrated it, and what the future holds for this card!

Origins

Umbreon, as you know, is an eeveelution that made its debut in the second generation of Pokemon games. An Eevee evolves into an Umbreon, if you level it up at night when the same is done in the daytime, you get an espeon.

Trivia

Apart from the Umbreon Vmax, the expansion also has the Umbreon V, a coveted card from Brilliant Stars. Both the V and V Max have one thing in common, both feature the Umbreon Trainer Karen.

Origins

Zekrom is one of the most badass dragons in Pokemon. Its tail produces anti-gravity fields which allows it to soar through skies with minimal thermodynamic or gravitational interference. It is known to cause thunderstorms in the Unnova region!

Umbreon was first introduced in the second generation of Pokemon games along with another Eeveelution, Espeon.

On the expansion launch, it was being sold for even higher, $300-400. Similarly, the Umbreon V will also peak in the first few days of the release might even reach $50-60. But after that, the price might fall and stabilize a bit.
