This PBS Educational Cartoon Might Be Missing It’s Mark

The lesson for today kids is as follows:  Stealing, lying, and turning innocent bystanders into criminals (as well as snitching on your friends) will not only reward you tangibly (free stuff) , but will also make you more popular among your peers.  This has been a message from the Public Broadcast System PBS -The More You Know.

BROKEN DOWN:

  • A) If you find something (in this case money) on the floor of your school that clearly isn’t yours, keep it.  Do not turn it in. Be careful to take only what you want of it (enough to buy that thing you wanted), and give the rest to all of your classmates.  This way, if caught, you don’t have to be the only one taking the blame.  The odds of being turned in should also significantly decrease because all parties will have an equal share in the crime, and would be implicated were they to tell.
  • B) If the actual owner comes to claim the lost item (the lost money), remain silent – and trust your co-conspirators will as well.
  • C) If and when someone else points the finger at you, then and only then should you admit guilt.
  • D) Your mom will for some reason happily pay double whatever money you were accused of misappropriating, and you and all your friends will go unpunished.  You will in fact be rewarded with the items they as well as yourself purchased on somebody else’s dime.  Nothing feels better than going on a shopping spree with money you didn’t earn.

I did like that the principal’s face was composed of my pen name for some reason.
